MCFC Original Squad
The Man City squad is a strong squad with plenty of quality which should at last be able to qualify for Europe. However, to win the league you have to strengthen som crucial positions. But lets take a quick look at the boys first.
Red means players only available on the 9.03 database. Green means youngsters with excellent potential. Black signifies who I recon are your key players.
Now to get on to your positions:
- GK: On 9.03 you have a world-class player in Shay Given, and Hart as a decent backup. On earlier databases, I'd recommend you get a world-class GK.
- DL: On 9.03 Bridge is decent but perhaps not amazing. On earlier databases you only have Garrido which needs replacing.
- DC: Dunne is a class act on FM09, and so is Richards. Onuoha is a decent backup. If you want to play Micha Richards on DR, as Hughes does, then you need a new DC.
- DR: As mentioned above, you need a new DR only if you play Richards as DC.
- DM/MCd: On 9.03 De Jong is good, but not amazing. Fernandes does usually turn out very good, but might not be world-class first season, same goes for Kompany really.
- ML: I honestly believe that Robinho is excellent at ML/AML, and this is also where Mark Hughes plays him in real life. If you want to play him as a striker then Petrov isn't quite good enough perhaps...
- MCa/AMC: This is possibly your strongest position. Ireland has always been amazing for me, and Johnson is also good usually. Elano can be very inconsistent, but at his best he is world-class.
- MR: The one and only Shaun-Wright Phillips, the fantastic SWP. Need I say more?
- ST: On 9.03 Bellamy is good, for most people he is pretty much free scoring, but I still think we can do better. On older databases, Jo has always been superb for me despite people not rating him so highly. Sturridge should not be over looked either. But I feel that if you play two or more strikers you without doubt need to splash some serious cash to bring in a superb quality striker.Especially if you play Robinho on the left.
